This a very engaging u-tube video. The creativity is very captivating, but I hope that the message comes across. This has been one of my themes with our staff this year:
Are we teaching our Millennial children how to survive in the Industrial Age?

I agreed with many parts of this video. The one part that I agreed with the most, however, was when he questioned why students are organized into age groups. I think it would be highly beneficial to let students work ahead in order to obtain more knowledge. Yes it would create large learning gaps but the world needs a diversity of intelligence. Some students naturally learn quicker than others and it is nearly impossible for all students to move at the same pace.
ReplyDeleteThis video was very interesting to watch. I agree with many if not all parts of this man's theory. I also agree the education method needs to change from drugging kids to focus to opening their options to learn. If this man were in charge of creating the education system the world would be full of many successful people.(Sorry this is Rachel I just used my mom's account)
ReplyDeleteThis was quite a creative video, how he used his drawing to explain himself. I would say he is right on most of his theory, but i think if kids don't want to learn about the subject or don't like the subject, then they are not going to learn about it.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very creative way of explaining this situation and must of took a very long time. I would have to agree with his theories especially when he talked about technology distraction children. My opinion is that technology can brainwash people but also be a great learning tool with many possibilities that we haven't seen before.
ReplyDeleteThe divergent thinking portion of this video was particularly interesting. Although I knew kindergarten students were creative, I didn't guess 98% would be considered geniuses when they were asked to come up with different uses for a paper clip. Kids always have new ideas and never seem afraid to share them with everyone. The world would definitely be much different if all older students and adults thought like this and weren't reserved in sharing their opinions!
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a really amazing video. He had really creative and interesting drawling to explain his theory. I think that for some kids we shouldn't be grouped with are age groups because some are fast learners and some are slow learners. But it is still kinda nice so that way we can keep are friends throughout school. If kids hate school and dont want to learn stuff then they arent going to even try. He did a really good job with his drawlings and explaining them as he went.
ReplyDeleteWow! This video is very unique. The art work and information was incredible. I enjoyed watching his art progress with the information. I agreed with nearly all of his statements. A distinctive one was his theory on ADHD. He unquestionably got his point across. I would give this a 5/5 for ratings.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is really amazing. How he ever thought of all the pictures to go with his theory I'll never know. The pictures completely helped to prove his point about the education system. I totally agree with his theory too.
ReplyDeleteThis guy really knows what he is talking about! He does a great job getting his point across to all viewers and keeping them moving along with what he is saying. I would have to agree with most of what he said. The ADHD theory I found very interesting as well has the divergent thinking section. Overall he puts forth some very thought provoking points!
ReplyDeleteThis video is really neat because it brings up important ideas about education and learning styles. I feel like I can relate to the divergent thinking theory because many times I find myself trying to think of things in a different way from the "norm". Another interesting idea in this video was about age being an irrational way to group children. Maybe we should all be put together according to intellegence, however, it would be quite strange if a kindergardener were to be grouped with a teenager!
